Welcome to the Center for Indigenous and Cultural Psychology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (CICP).
CICP is a research center born out of a deep curiosity about human beings: how we think, feel, and live together within our respective cultural and social contexts.
At CICP, we believe in a context-sensitive psychology. Human beings and the ways they interact with others are shaped by relationships, communities, values, and the histories that surround them. This perspective underpins the cross-cultural and indigenous psychology approaches we develop at CICP—an effort to understand human psychological life more holistically, particularly within Indonesia’s rich diversity of cultures, values, and social experiences.
Our research spans a wide range of topics in social and cultural psychology, from how local values shape social behavior to how identity, morality, and interpersonal relationships are understood in everyday life in Indonesia.
To anyone interested in engaging in discussion, collaboration, or simply getting to know us better, CICP’s doors are always open. We believe that meaningful knowledge emerges from honest and sincere dialogue with many stakeholders.
